I worked with the creative team at software company Ably to create over 100 hand drawn diagrams. The diagrams simplify how Ably’s complex infrastructure powers real-time messaging. The balance, flow, symmetry or asymmetry and how multifaceted the diagrams are fascinated me, even outside of understanding their meaning.
A suite of elements, hierarchy, consistent styles and visual messaging links the diagrams and builds on Ably’s identity. The almost primitive feel of the wobbly lines aids their simplicity, approachability and ultimately we hope peoples understanding.
